Cultural Capital and Enrichment
Cultural Capital & Enrichment
At St Peter's, our cultural capital offer is rooted in our Mustard Seed vision and underpinned by our Christian values. We believe every child deserves experiences that broaden horizons, inspire ambition and prepare them to flourish in modern Britain. Through a rich and inclusive programme of enrichment, all pupils develop the knowledge, confidence and character needed to thrive.
Pupils enjoy a wide range of artistic and cultural opportunities, including EYFS and KS1 Nativity productions, the Year 6 end-of-year production, performances in church, theatre experiences such as Mavis and Malcolm and the Year 5 Shakespeare Project. These experiences nurture creativity, confidence and self-expression.
Educational visits bring learning to life and help pupils make meaningful connections with the wider world. Experiences include farm visits, local walks and library visits in EYFS and Key Stage 1; visits to Staircase House, Reddish Vale, Tatton Park, Chester and Quarry Bank Mill; and opportunities such as the Titanic Workshop, Magistrates Project and residential experiences in Year 6. Many visits are subsidised to ensure that every child can take part.
Sport and physical development are strengths of the school. Pupils participate in competitions and festivals and access a wide range of inclusive clubs and activities, including football, cricket, cross-country, triathlons, Bikeability and SEND sporting events.
We are committed to developing pupils as responsible stewards of God's world. Through Earth Stewards, the Big School Birdwatch, allotment projects and our environmental awards, pupils learn to care for the world around them. Children experience the wonder of caring for living things through our whole-school chick project, nurturing caterpillars and releasing butterflies, and learning about the importance of pollinators through our bee adoption initiative.
Pupil leadership and community involvement are central to life at St Peter's. Opportunities such as Ethos Council, Sports Leaders, E-Safety Ambassadors, Earth Stewards and the Archbishop of York Young Leaders Award empower pupils to make a positive difference. Through charity fundraising, Harvest collections, support for local food banks, care home links and community events, pupils develop compassion, responsibility and a commitment to serving others.
Our wider curriculum also develops essential life skills through initiatives such as Mini Medics, My Happy Mind, Barclay's Bank Money Bus, road safety education, safeguarding projects and Picture News.
Impact: Pupils leave St Peter's as confident, articulate and respectful young people who are resilient, aspirational and ready for the next stage of education. They embrace diversity, understand British values and recognise their responsibility to care for others and the world around them. Guided by our Mustard Seed vision, they grow into compassionate individuals and courageous advocates who are equipped to make a positive contribution to society.
