Pastoral Support
At St Peter’s, we are committed to supporting the wellbeing of every child and their family. Our dedicated Pastoral Team provides a range of support to ensure all pupils feel safe, confident and ready to learn.
Our team includes:
- Mr Colvin – Deputy Headteacher and Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)
- Miss Connolly – SENDCo and Mental Health First Aider
- Miss Duffy – Attendance Officer
In addition, we have a Mental Health Mentor who works weekly with pupils and families, providing targeted support to develop emotional wellbeing, resilience and positive mental health.
The Pastoral Team supports children both in and out of the classroom, helping them to develop positive behaviour, confidence and strong learning habits through individual and small group support. We work closely with families, offering guidance, signposting to local services and providing a supportive listening ear when needed. We work in partnership with Early Help Assessment (EHA) Advisors in Tameside to ensure families receive the right support at the right time. Early Help is a voluntary process designed to support families before concerns escalate, ensuring coordinated support across services.
How Early Help works:
- Talk – We begin with a conversation to understand your family’s strengths and any concerns.
- Plan – With your consent, we create a simple action plan and identify a lead professional to coordinate support.
- Review – Regular meetings check progress and adapt support, ensuring the child’s voice is central.
We work closely with a range of external partners, including the Tameside Education Welfare Officer (EWO), TOG Mind and the Leap Partnership, to provide a joined-up approach to wellbeing, attendance and mental health. We also recognise the importance of practical support for families. Every Thursday, we offer a re-use uniform shop, providing access to good quality school uniform. In addition, St Peter’s Church supports our community through its food bank provision, and families can also access wider local support through:
